Communication Workers Union Humanitarian Aid  (Registered Charity Number 1078312)

Our Charity is a direct response to the plight of vulnerable children in other countries. We have sent 30 convoys delivering nearly 2,000 tonnes of much needed aid to hundreds of orphanages, foster & adoption centres and direct to vulnerable families in Bulgaria, Romania, Ukraine, Moldova, Transnistria, Albania and Lithuania. Send an email
We pay no wage, all of the convoy drivers are volunteers. Our volunteers actually deliver the aid direct to the places where it is needed most. This way, Donors can therefore be confident that their generosity will be translated in to aid at the point of need!
The CWUHA office is also run at virtually no cost because thanks to the CWU and BT, we pay no rent, and no phone/email bills.

Our next convoy of 10 lorries will be to Panagyurishte Orphanage, Bulgaria, in September 2008.

CHASE hospice care for children
provides nursing, practical, and emotional support to families with children who are not expected to reach their 19th birthday across South West London, Surrey and Sussex.  Dedicated help is given starting immediately after diagnosis, through bereavement and beyond. This support is offered to families in their homes, their local communities and at our children's hospice, Christopher's.

The CHASE service is provided 365 days of the year at no cost to the families themselves. This costs £4 million every year, raised almost entirely from donations and fundraising. Web Site:  http://www.chasecare.org.uk/  Send email: fundraising@chasecare.org.uk

Disabled and frail older people have a brilliant day out at a gallery or museum with Access to Art, a London based charity. We collect our members from their home in an accessible minibus and our volunteers provide one to one assistance at the gallery. "I didn't believe there would be an organisation the provides this service" said our 99 year old member "I thought it was too good to be true"! Over the year we support over 1000 visits to the galleries such as the Tate, Royal Academy of Arts or the National Gallery. For many isolated and housebound people this has been a real lifeline. The New Room appeal was launched in July 2008, by Steve Pound MP, with the aim of raising £60,000 for an essential ground-floor extension to the Ealing, Hammersmith & Hounslow Samaritans branch, which will provide new training facilities, and the capacity to train more volunteers than ever before. There will also be IT resources for training, education and outreach work, improved facilities for visitors to the branch together with a bright and warm training space that can be available to community groups

Dylan was born on the 15th of December 2001.  At 10 months old he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia.  During the next 14 months he spent most of his time in and out of hospital having chemotherapy and finally a bone marrow transplant.  Sadly, the transplant failed, Dylan left us on the 21st December 2003. THE DYLAN MASON MEMORIAL TRUST Registered Charity Number is 1109339. This charity will help other parents whose children are suffering from AML or Leukaemia. The money raised will go towards educating parents about this illness including treatment options. We will also help by making sure their stay in hospital is as comfortable as possible, providing the wards with electrical and recreation equipment and assisting parents and families to visit the children at their place of treatment. 01782 816 539   >>>Read More

The school started by House of Mercy Children's Home at the Oko Baba Destitute Camp in 2007 has met with tremendous positive response from children, their parents and their guardians. All the children who attend our school live in the Destitute Camp with their parents. Instead of going to school, the children often assist their parents begging for alms. They are a source of income for their parents. Some of the children are handicapped or mentally challenged but are eager to live a childhood that is as normal as possible.
Children are taught in English and Hausa their native language. Snacks are given to the children after school. We educate about 500 children and about 300 attend classes regularly
