The Against Breast Cancer research team has a unique approach to breast cancer in that it looks at the whole woman; her tumour, her response to the tumour and her environment. We aim to increase survival after breast cancer, through new research leading to the development of cancer vaccines and practical advice on dietary/lifestyle changes. We are currently appealing for funding for a prospective study to determine diet, lifestyle and cancer recurrence of 500 patients already recruited. Funding needed for 1 year for the analysis of diet questionnaires and phytoestrogens intake of 500 patients = £100,000. If you would like further details or to donate online please refer to our website, alternatively please call or email Louise Musgrove T:0870 7744288 E:lmusgrove@aabc.org.uk

CALM (Reg. Charity No. 1019902) is a small charity unlike any other, our purpose is to provide a confidential, non-judgemental and dedicated counselling service to those in sometimes desperate need of support. CALM's dedicated team of volunteer counsellors provide a subsidised counselling service for people who cannot afford private fees, yet are struggling to cope with problems that can be deep-rooted and traumatic, making it difficult, if not impossible to tackle alone. >>>MORE

In 1947, 70,000 Scottish children took the same intelligence test. The Scottish Mental Survey was the most comprehensive study of its kind ever undertaken and provided a unique and invaluable set of recorded data about the mental ability of an entire cross section of society. In 1997 Professor Ian Deary began a groundbreaking project to retest this group in older age to provide the crucial missing scientific component for research into age-related cognitive decline and generate the life indicators, which could allow us all to live a healthy active old age

The Disconnected Mind appeal is a once-in-lifetime opportunity to improve the lives of older people by unlocking the causes of age-related mental decline. By making one of our donation choices you will help fund research that could lead to the discovery of better treatments for the prevention of conditions such as dementia and Alzheimer's disease both life shattering conditions that can affect us all.
